Chandel, March 11 2021:
Commited to the initiative of Assam Rifles to improve the standards of living in Samtal Salient, Sehlon Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed Teaching Aids and Sports items to the remote villages of Chandel Districts and organised a Medical Camp to continue its endeavour towards health care improvements in the sailent as part of Assam Rifles Civic Acton Programme on yesterday.
The event was organised to promote the importance of education and sports by providing the resources benefiting the youth of the area.
Various sports equipments consisting of Volleyballs, Basketballs, Badminton Rackets including accessories and Teaching aids consisting of Blackboards, Notebooks, writing materials were handed over to the village chiefs.
In the medical camp, basic medical requirement of the locals considering the lack of public health centers in this remote area were provided.
About 50-60 persons from villages Tuitong, Old Samtal, Gumnom, and New Samtal availed the benefits of the camp.
Village chiefs and the villagers deeply appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles in providing the much needed sports and teaching items for local youth and medical assistance for all.
Meanwhile, Chassad battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed sports items and teaching aids to eight remote villages of Kamjong district on 10 March.
The event was organised with the endeavour of fostering a spirit of sportsmanship among the youth of less privileged villages and providing teaching assistance to the children living in the far flung border areas of Kamjong District.
The villages of Nampisha, Phaikoh, Chahong, Ningchou, Kangpat cluster and Skipe benefitted from this.
The initiative was much appreciated by the locals and village authorities of these villages.
