Imphal, May 11 2021:
All Manipur Integrated Primary Teachers' Association (AMIPTA) has appealed to the state government for vaccinating the government school teachers, who are working or would be engaged as frontline workers (FLWs), on priority basis along with granting them reward and other opportunities as entitled to the FLWs.
In a release, AMIPTA president Kh Basilkanta Singh stated that to contain the second wave of Covid-19 in the state, many government teachers have been utilised as frontline workers and posted at places connected with Covid-19 containment measures.
During the first wave of the pandemic also, teachers were assigned duty at common transit point and quarantine centres, but they did not receive any recognition as frontline workers.
As such, the government should treat such teachers as FLWs and ensure they enjoy relevant benefits, AMIPTA demanded.
