DCC members reject NSCN (IM) link petition

Imphal, May 11 2021: Members of four District Council Constituencies (DCCs) have dismissed as unfounded the petition filed to the NIA by rights activists alleging nexus between the quartet and the armed NSCN-IM.

Reacting to a report published in the Monday edition of this daily in connection with the rights activists approaching the NIA to probe alleged unholy nexus between the ADC and the NSCN (IM), the members maintained that the allegations against them is a covert ploy to harass them and tarnish their reputation.

In a joint statement, DCC members KH Sapuni of Phuba, P Veini (Phaibung Khullen), R Thotrei (Ngari Khullen) and K Holison Raomai (Karong) described as totally false the charges levelled against them as well as CEO of ADC Senapati that funds allocated for taking up developmental works in the 4 DCCs of Sena-pati have been transferred to the NSCN (IM) .

Nothing has been mentioned regarding siphoning off of huge amount of money from development funds to the NSCN (IM) in the RTI application filed by the RTI activists as well as in pending cases before the Manipur Lokayukta, it said.

"There is no material evidence to show that we, in collusion with the CEO of Senapati had transferred huge amount of money to NSCN (IM)," it said.

The statement further maintained that the allegations against them are only to harass and tarnish their 'impeccable' reputations.
