Imphal, July 27 2022:
Night Shelter Home operated by the Labour Department at Chingmeirong Dingku road is being rented out to private individuals.
Opposition MLA K Ranjit said this while raising a call attention motion and sought clarification on whether the said night shelter home was built on Government land or if bought, how much was paid for buying the same.
Replying to the Call Attention Motion, Labour Minister H Dingo said the department had bought 0.11 acre of land including a building on March 3, 2010 for Rs 61,14,464 (sixty one lakh fourteen thousand four hundred sixty four) from one Thongam Muhindro of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai.
A sale deed was also signed and the Labour Department renovated the building and the night shelter home was inaugurated on June 9 the same year.
A two storey building was also constructed next to the previous building, he informed the House.
The home was operated till January 2017 until Thongam Muhindro sent a representation claiming that he was only paid Rs 60 lakh and the balance amount of Rs 1,14,464/ - was due.
He had also claimed that the sale was for just 0.09 acre and not 0.11 acre as said by the department, the Minister added.
Following these claims, the department had sent paper for registration to Thongam Muhindro, which he never reciprocated.
Failing to receive reply from Thongam Muhindro, the department filed an injunction suit and the matter is at Civil Judge Senior Division Imphal East Court and the matter will be resolved at the earliest, the Minister replied.
