Training on school health and wellness underway

Imphal, June 20 2022:
A four-day training programme on school health and wellness for school teachers organised by Di rectorate of State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in association with State Health Society and Education (S), has begun from Monday at SCERT training hall, Lamphel.
The training programme is being organised for school teachers of Imphal East district under Ayushman Bharat.
SCERT head of office Jim Golden Thingujam, academic in-charge Rajeshwar Sharma, population education RK Sashiranjan and programme coordinator & OSD Dr Yumnam Nandini attended the inaugural session as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Jim Golden described Ayushman Bharat as the largest healthcare insurance scheme of the world.
He explained that the scheme has two components and one of them is the PMJAY scheme which provides up to Rs 5 lakh hospitalisation assistance to beneficiaries.
The other component is setting up of 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres across the country with the objective to provide quality primary healthcare services to the public, he said.
Awareness through school education is one of the promotional activities under the scheme, which is why the training is being organised, he added.
Around 40 teachers from Imphal East district are taking part in the training programme.
