CADA flags off poster campaign

Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) flagged off a street corner meeting and poster campaign from Kangla West Gate today as a part of the observance of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Hijam Priyokumar, president CADA launched the district-wide street corner meeting and poster campaign with a ceremonial flag hoisting.
Speaking to media persons in this connection, Ningthoujam Doren, vice-president CADA, said that since 2006, CADA has consistently organised this campaign in strict observance of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which falls on June 26 as per a proclamation by the United Nations General Assembly.
He stated that the campaign will be held across several districts for a week till June 26, adding that the same will be organised in Imphal East today.
Following this, the campaign will be held tomorrow in Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching and so on, he maintained.
He commented on the scourge of drug abuse in the State and touched upon its negative impact on the youth.
Calling upon the people to cooperate in curbing drug abuse as well as rampant smuggling of narcotics, he opined that if necessary steps are not taken in this regard then it might lead to a complete degradation of the State.
He also appealed to the people to lend their support to the State Government's War on Drugs 2.0 campaign in order to uproot the menace of drug abuse.
