Truckers suffer electric shock, hospitalised

Imphal, May 11 2022:
A driver and his assistant of a Tata Truck have been hospitalised after the vehicle they were driving came in contact with a low-hanging High Tension (HT) wire at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai on Wednesday.
The driver has been identified as Mukeskumar Tiwari (45) s/o Harishram Tiwari and his assistant as Anil (35), both hailing from Bihar.
They have been admitted to RIMS hospital.
According to a police report, the incident occurred when the Tata truck (HR 38 W 5982) was moving from Lamphel Sanakeithel towards Hijam Dewan Leikai around 12.30 pm on Wednesday.
Both the driver and the second driver suffered electrical shocks.
On hearing news of the incident, the power was shut off immediately.
A team of Lamphel PS arrived at the scene and took both the injured to RIMS hospital for treatment.
In view of this incident, many have urged the relevant departments to look into the low-lying HT wires at various places to prevent similar mishaps from happening again.
