COPMeV hails CM's CCpur visit, expresses hope for return of IDPs

Imphal, July 04 2026: The Committee on Protection of Meetei Victims, Moreh (COPMeV) has lauded Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh for attending the funeral programme of late MLA Vungzagin Valte in Churachandpur, describing the visit as a courageous step that has rekindled hope for peace and reconciliation in the state.

In a statement, COPMeV said the Chief Minister's decision to travel to Churachandpur despite objections from sections of the Kuki community has renewed hope for a brighter future at a time when public confidence had waned.

The organisation expressed optimism that the visit would pave the way for more positive initiatives, particularly towards enabling internally displaced persons (IDPs) to return safely to their native places.
