SFs apprehend three with arms

Imphal, August 09 2021: A combined team of Imphal East district commando, Yaingangpokpi police, 15 Assam Rifles and 24 Assam Rifles arrested three individuals along with arms from Gwaltabi market shed area on Monday.

The arrested trio has been identified as Ningthar Ngalung (34) son of Luckyson Ngalung, Kazipam Makang (39) son of Suilang Makang and Achan Nakang (38) son of late Tenyson Nakang of Tongou village.

The combined team also seized 48 live rounds of 9 mm and one single barrel gun with four live rounds and two empty cases.

Police sources said that the combined team carried out operation in Gwaltabi market area after getting reliable inputs of presence of anti- social elements in the area.

The team intercepted the trio who came in a silver coloured Maruti Swift Dzire.

Upon questioning, it was established that they are arms traders and they were taking the arms for selling to an individual at Yaingangpokpi Bazar.

The trio has been handed over to Yaingangpokpi police station along with the seized arms and car.
