Tangkhul folk song competition held

Ukhrul, August 09 2021:
Ekhon as a part of "World's Indigenous People Day" observation on Monday organised an online competition to preserve Tangkhul folk song under the theme "Awo-Ayi Haolaa Phakhari Khangahan" .
Ekhon with the objective to preserve indigenous folk culture gave an open public invitation for a documentation campaign.
15 enthusiastic groups from different Tangkhul regions responded to the open invitation for the folk documentation.
The winners of the competition are as follows - Ihao Ngashan from Zingsui Sambu Village (first position); Mervini Yarthot, Chingjaroi Ngachaphung (Second) and Horchamri of Chahong Khullen (Most Promising Khanuitot) .
Guru Rawung and TS Shimreingam Angelus, retired MCS also attended as judges of the competition.
The top five winners will feature at AIR and will be awarded cash
awards & certificates.
