Huge cache of arms, ammos seized

A team of Moreh commando and 43 Assam Rifles seized arms and other warlike stores from one house at S Moljol village, Moreh on Sunday.
The seized weapons include 2 AK-56 rifles, 2 M16 rifles, 3 pistols, 3 Chinese hand grenades, 9 magazines for AK 56 and M16 rifles and 4 pistol magazines, 1 binoculars and 426 live bullets, uniform and carry bags.
The seized weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Moreh police station.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal East district commando, 15 and 24 Assam Rifles arrested three arm smugglers along with one single barrel gun and ammunition from Gwaltabi area along the Imphal Ukhrul road this afternoon.

On receiving specific information about the presence of anti-social elements, the combined team under the supervision of Additional SP Operation Imphal East M Roni carried out a counter insurgency operation at Gwaltabi area, during which one car coming from Tongou village was detained, said police.
The driver and two occupants of the car were identified as Ningthar Ngalung (34) s/o Lukyson Ngalung, Kazipam Makang (39) s/o Suilang Makang and Achan Nakang (38) s/o (L) Tenyson Nakang, all from Tongou village Ukhrul district.
Saying the combined team seized the ammunition and the gun from inside the vehicle, the police continued that the trio was arrested on spot by observing formalities.
The three of them revealed that they are illegal arms smugglers and are on their way to sell the seized arms and ammunition to a person at Yaingangpokpi Bazar, it added.
The arrested persons and seized items have been handed over to Yaingangpokpi police station.
