Police seize 27,800 WY tablets

Bishnupur, August 09 2021:
Acting on an input regarding the movement of contraband items near Agriculture Office Bishnupur along Tiddim road, a team of CDO Unit Bishnupur led by ASO Victor Haobijam assisted by ASI H Robash Singh and Havildar Md Islamuddin under the command of OC/CDO Unit Bishnupur conducted frisking and checking at Agriculture Office Bishnupur on August 7 .
It was carried out as a part of preventive measures in connection with the upcoming Independence Day celebration under the overall supervision of SP Bishnupur, said police.

During the frisking and checking, one Tata truck bearing Regd No WB65C-4786 was detained on suspicion.
On spot verification, the driver was identified as Yangkhubam Hussain Ahmad (20), son of Yangkhubam Nasir Ahmad of Kwakta Khuman Thongkhong, Bishnupur district.
On checking, 27,800 tablets suspected to be 'WY' were found concealed in between two layers of trampoline sheets covering the back of the truck.
The police team also recovered one mobile phone with one Airtel Sim and arrested the person at the spot by observing all necessary formalities.
The arrested accused along with the recovered items were handed over to OC/Bishnupur PS and a case has been registered for further investigation.
