Imphal, August 09 2021:
FEGOCTA appealed to all concerned to revoke the transfer order of Dr N Somorendro Singh, General Secretary of FEGOCTA from Manipur College to Tamenglong College.
In a press release FEGOCTA said that the said transfer order is for the General Secretary, FEGOCTA alone and that too during Covid-19 pandemic restrictions and when the online classes and internal assessments are going on.
FEGOCTA maintained that such action by the Higher Education Department has raised several questions whether the transfer order dishonours the MOU of March 6, 2021 on which General Secretary, FEGOCTA is a signatory.
Clause 6 of the MOU mentioned that there will be no victimization/disciplinary action against the teachers who participate in the agitations, added the statement and continued that never in the history of UGC pay revisions in Manipur such action was taken against a teacher only.
FEGOCTA has held Executive Committee meetings on August 4 and 8 on online mode regarding the matter and request letters have been submitted on August 6, 2021 to the Chief Minister, the Education Minister, the Chief Secretary etc.
In the interest of students and the college teaching community, FEGOCTA appealed to the concerned authorities to revoke the transfer order of Dr N Somorendro Singh at the earliest.
It maintained that FEGOCTA is not against any authority or group.
Its primary objective is to improve collegiate education by implementing national policies of UGC etc and work for common interests of the college teachers.
It organised conferences/seminars, contributed to Chief Minister's Relief Funds, introduced common online classes etc which can be seen in the website www.fegocta.org.
FEGOCTA, formed in 2013 by the decisions of the leaders of AMGOCTA, AMCTA and GOTAM is the first permanent common body of the college teachers in Manipur.
