Imphal, October 25 2021:
Civil society organisations of Moreh on Monday submitted a memorandum to Governor La Ganesan containing list of proposals, which they said, are some of the most immediate needs towards ensuring development of the border town.
The memorandum was jointly submitted by Hill Tribal Council Moreh, Meetei Council Moreh, Tamil Sangam Moreh, All Community Development Organisation, Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh and Gorkha Samaj Sewa Samiti Moreh.
Stating that water scarcity in Moreh has been a big problem and the department concerned merely exists on paper, the memorandum sought implementation of Jaal Jeevan Mission.
While highlighting the dilapidated conditions of inter village roads (IVRs) linking localities of the town and absence of proper drainage system, they proposed for early repairing and renovation of all IVRs in the form of black topping, that too, by using machine to ensure durability.
The memorandum also lamented frequent disruption in telecommunication network and inability of the cellular service providers like BSNL, Airtel and Jio to provide coverage to all localities of the town.
The civil bodies sought the Governor's intervention for solving the problem.
It also suggested engagement of more security personnel at check posts along the Imphal-Moreh road to lessen long waiting endured by travellers.
Other proposals mentioned in the memorandum include acceptarice of all eligible/deserving applicants for availing benefits of PM-JAY scheme, and strengthening of fire brigade department in Moreh.
