Imphal, October 25 2021:
Taking a jibe at the BJP, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president MLA N Loken has said that BJP is leading other political parties in poster and flag hoisting campaign though the government has not been able to complete various development projects initiated by the Congress government.
He was attending a felicitation function of Gopen Thongram, who contested the last state assembly election on NEIDP ticket from Keirao assembly constituency, former LIP spokesperson Ningombam Ibohal and RPI Kumbi block convener Phamdom Dhanabir, held at the party's office here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Loken maintained that only Congress party can protect the state and the public also know it.
Even after remaining in power for four years and seven months, the BJP-led government has failed to take up any significant development works in the state except for some footbridges and some women's market complexes in hill districts.
Though the government introduced several schemes and programmes, whether the benefits are reaching the targeted public or not remains questionable.
The government has not been able to complete various development projects initiated by the former Congress government.
The state assembly election is likely to be held in February next year and the public will give their right verdict.
There is no compulsion to have a BJP government in the state when the party is in power at the Centre.
On the other hand, the Centre cannot deny the state share for having a government of rival party, he said.
He also alleged BJP of forming the present government through fraudulent means.
BJP will not return to power in the 2022 election as the public will remove them from power for their failure on various fronts, Loken added.
CLP leader and former chief minister Okram Ibobi, Wangkhem MLA K Meghachandra, Sugnu MLA K Ranjit, Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar and several party leaders also attended the felicitation function.
