Kangpokpi celebrates 100 cr jab milestone at Poudel Basti

Days after India reached the one billion COVID-19 vaccination milestone, Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen along with BJP Kangpokpi Mandal and villagers of Poudel Basti celebrated the achievement on Monday at 9 Mile Poudel Basti, where a second dose vaccination programme was held as well.
Celebrating the achievement, MLA Nemcha distributed sweets and drinks to all the participants, Gaon Bura and second dose vaccinated people and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his persistent efforts and concern for the people.
She also thanked the people of Kangpokpi, especially health care personnel, frontline workers and volunteers of COVID Task Force of Kangpokpi AC for their contributions towards in achieving.the landmark.
After 279 days of struggle and relentless effort, India scripted history by becoming the only nation after China to reach the one billion COVID-19 vaccination milestone mark on October 21, Nemcha Kipgen said, adding that Gorkha/Nepali community contributed a lot in the milestone achievement.
To prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, India started its vaccination drive on January 16 this year.
Three vaccines have been in emergency use in the country namely Covishield manufactured by Serum Institute of India, Covaxin manufactured by Bharat Biotech Limited and Sputnik V developed by Gamaleya Research Institute, Russia.
Covishield emerged as the mainstay of the vaccination driye accounting for 88.58 per cent of the total doses administered and Covaxin has been given to 11.46 per cent of beneficiaries while Sputnik V has been given to a minuscule number of beneficiaries, she added.
The MLA later distributed bags printed with the images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chief minister N Biren Singh and herself that she made under Prime Minister Gareeb Kalyan Anna Muft (Ration) Yojana to all the Gaon Bura, the village headmen and all the participants while conveying that the bags were made for the convenience of the villagers/beneficiaries while availing the ration distributed under PMGKAM.
The local MLA also visited the second dose vaccination site at the village and thanked all the beneficiaries for coming out in huge numbers for the getting the second dose.
She also had lengthy interaction with the people, Gaon Bura, headmen and local leaders on various development works taken up by the BJP government.
Meanwhile, BJP Kangpokpi Mandal Ted by its president Tingnei Lhouvum conducted a booth level meeting at Poudel Basti cum enrolment programme.
