Imphal, October 25 2021:
While observing that verification of foreigners is just for namesake only in the state despite implementation of Foreigners Act, Federation of Haomee (FOH) has urged authorities concerned to detect and deport foreigners from the state.
In a release, FOH president Sapamcha Jadumani enquired why the state government has failed to effectively implement Inner Line Permit System in all corners of the state.
He demanded the government to bring out a white paper on the number of Myanmarese nationals entering the state following the military junta's coup in Myanmar on February 1, 2021 .
Pointing out that the neighbouring Mizoram government has given refuge to 12,939 Myanmarese nationals; he said that the number of Myanmarese entering the state could not be detected as Manipur government did not offer shelters to the refugees officially.
Jadumani recounted the recent arrest of Myanmarese nationals with fake Aadhaar cards by security forces in the state and deduced that many more Myanmarese refugees might be hiding in the state.
The dreaded Covid-19 could not wipe out the indigenous population of Manipur, but the interrupted influx of foreigners would surely overwhelm the indigenous population in due course of time, he cautioned.
Those who indulge in politics and all those who are in the government need to take up initiatives to fight the influx from outside if they sincerely loved the land, Jadumani asserted.
