AR bids adieu to Swarnim Vijay Mashaal

As the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (Victory Flame) completes its journey through the state of Manipur, IGAR (South) under the aegis of Spears Corps organised a function to bid farewell to the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal (Victory Flame) at SAI Football Ground Takyel on Sunday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (South) informed that RS MP & titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba attended the event as chief guest with other imminent personalities in attendance, which included deputy speaker Khongkham Robindro, former cabinet minister Okram Henry, Lt Gen K Himalaya Singh (Retd), General Officer Commanding Spear Corps Lt Gen Johnson P Mathews, IG AR (South), Maj Gen Alok Naresh, GOC 57 Mtn Div Gen Naveen Sachdeva, senior officials from state government, and serving & retired armed forces personnel while NCC cadets and school children made the exhilarating mega event successful with their presence.
The event commenced with a welcome song by students of ARPS, Mantripukhri, followed by an exciting match of Khong Kangjei (Manipuri Hockey).
The famous patriotic song 'Ae Mere Vatan ke logon' in the sensational voice of Sunita Nepram filled the stadium with patriotic fervour, prior to screening of messages from prominent personalities including CM N Biren Singh, few war veterans of 1971 War, and the sports persons of the state.
The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal arrived at the venue from Keithelmanbi Garrison with all the grandeur amid the tunes of the pipe bands and was received by the chief guest accompanied by the Spears Corps Commander and IG AR(South) in the backdrop of National Anthem being played in its respect.
In the memory of the fallen soldiers of 1971 War, doves were released as a mark of peace and Tri-colour balloons were let in the air.
Cultural programmes were also showcased during the function.
To mark the conclusion, the chief guest addressed the gathering and shared the importance of the contribution of 'Indian Jawan' in ensuring safety, security and the glory of the nation.
It was followed by felicitation of participants of the day's event.
The event marked a befitting farewell to the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal and the victory flame will now rest in Mantripukhri Garrison before continuing its journey to the state of Assam, the release added.
