Machi VA objects interference from L Sijang village

Machi Village Authority and Machi Land Protection Committee have strongly condemned the act of the chief of L/Sijang Thangminlen alias William, son of late M Kangpu Haokip, who tried to enlist his village during the Survey and Assessment of structures conducted by the PWD in connection with widening of NH-102.A joint statement issued by the two bodies informed that they made a request to all the authorities concerned not to include the 'so-called' village namely L/Sijang in the process of the said survey in the larger interest of the inhabitants of Machi village and for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the days to come.
In spite of the request, the DC of Tengnoupal district, who spearheaded the survey work, informed the inhabitants of Machi village that the inclusion L/Sijang in the ongoing survey work cannot be ruled out.
She (DC) also said that there would be more new villages to be included in the survey work, the statement said, while terming the statement of the DC contradictory and against the survey order issued by the DC Tengnoupal on May 12, 2022 where no mention of L/Sijang is found in the list of villages to be surveyed.
The statement further pointed out that L/Sijang villagers not under Machi Block but it comes under Tengnoupal Block.
As per record, no hill house tax is paid by the villagers of L/Sijang.
Apart from that, not a single house is found to have been in existence in and around the site in which the chief of L/Sijang village claimed to be his village.
Neither Census record nor electoral roll is found to have been in existence in connection with the so-called L/Sijang village and there is not a single village called L/ Sijang under Machi Block, the statement added.
