The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West yesterday issued notice to Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar and ex-MLA Yengkhom Surchandra to appear before the same Court on August 29 at 10.30 am.

The Court, after registering the case, issued notice to both the petitioner (MLA Mayanglambam Rame-shwar) and the respondent (ex-MLA Yengkhom Surchandra) returnable on or before August 29 .
MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar filed a petition in January last year seeking an enquiry against the respondent for allegedly giving false evidence while giving statement on oath in connection with an election petition registered earlier in 2017 .
The petition alleged that Y Surchandra, while giving evidence during trial of the election petition, intentionally gave false statement to prove that he was still with the INC although he had joined BJP.
He also knowingly presented false evidence as genuine evidence, the MLA alleged.
The Single Bench of Justice MV Muralidaran passed an order on June 6, 2020 in connection with the election petition and directed the Registry to send a copy of the order along with copies of written objection filed by the respondent and also the reply affidavit to the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West.
The High Court order directed the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West to conduct an enquiry against the respondent on the allegations made by the applicant.
