Imphal, August 23 2022:
Tekcham Premjit, convenor, Sagolmang Community Health Centre (CHC) Welfare Committee has stated that intense agitation will be launched if the required doctors and nurses are not sent to Sagolmang CHC within the next five days.
The convenor made this statement during a press conference held at Manipur Press Club this afternoon.
Speaking to media persons, Tekcham Premjit shared that out of the 14 doctors supposed to be posted at the CHC, 5 had left to pursue their post graduate studies, few had left for their senior residency and some others had been transferred.
On top of this, a few of the staff nurses have also been transferred leading to an overall lack of manpower to facilitate smooth functioning of the CHC, he said.
As a result, residents in the surrounding areas are unable to avail medical facilities typically provided at other CHCs, he added.
A written complaint has also been submitted to the Health Minister but to no avail, he lamented.
As such, Tekcham Premjit appealed to the State Government and the Health Minister to send the required number of doctors and nurses for proper functioning of the CHC within the next five days.
Further, he cautioned that the Committee along with the public will launch intense agitation if the relevant authority fails to meet this deadline.
