MSL: SSU pip DMRAO, RAU upstage UKB

Southern Sporting Union (SSU) and Rising Athletic Union (RAU) registered contrasting wins in the 15th Manipur State League 2022 on Tuesday.
SSU pulled off a 2-1 victory over Dimapur Road Athletic Organisation (DMRAO) at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
The winning side went into action from the first whistle and they rewarded after nine minutes.
It was Chingangbam John Singh who put SSU in front early with a calm finish.
After Conceding, DMRAO reorganised and staged a spirited fightback in the 25th minute with Bonison Nongmaithem on target to make it all square.
Thereafter the two teams were engaged in an intense battle that saw waves of attacks and counter-attacks.
SSU proved themselves the better side before the break as Mynam Arif Hussain regained their lead just before the end of the first 45 minutes.
After the interval, goals eluded both teams as they lacked the finishing touch but at the end of the game SSU were rewarded for their first-half goals.
RAU, meanwhile, rode on Ngangom Jiten Singh's double to ease past United Khawzim Brothers 2-0.Jiten needed just seven minutes to claim the opener before he produced another individual quality in the second period.
Jiten netted his second goal in the 60th minute as his side stood their ground to scoop all three points in convincing style.
On August 25, Muvanlai Athletics will play MPSC in a Group A match while Gang-gam Soccer Club face KIYC in their Group B encounter.
