Imphal, August 23 2022:
Expressing strong resentment over the shortage of doctors at Sagolmang CHC and demanding withdrawal of the order for transferring doctors and nurses from the hospital, Sagolmang CHC Hospital Welfare Committee has warned of launching intense forms of agitation if the government does not revoke the transfer order within five days.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, Committee convener Tekcham Premjit said that there are 14 sanctioned posts of doctors in the CHC, but five doctors are on leave for pursuing PG course and some engaged in other duties while some doctors and staff have been transferred.
The staff shortage is severely affecting normal day-to-day functioning of the health centre and as such, the committee submitted a written complaint to the health minister on August 11 requesting to fill up the vacant posts.
In the absence of any response from the minister concerned, they approached the local MLA Th Lokeshwar, who communicated with the health minister and the latter assured of staying the transfer order after the Independence Day celebration.
However, no steps have been taken up till date, he lamented, and warned of launching intense forms of agitation if the transfer orders were not withdrawn within five days or fill up the vacant posts within five days.
He also demanded the government to begin construction of Sagolmang district hospital within the given five-day deadline.
