MSC/CPI observes 74th foundation day

The 74th foundation day of Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) was observed in separate events held at Yumnam Huidrom, Kakching, Bishnupur and Khurai today.
A statement issued by MSC/CPI has shared that the foundation day function at Yumnam Huidrom was jointly organised by Imphal City and Imphal West Council of the party at Kh Nupimacha Community Hall, Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai.
The event was attended by Langol Iboyaima, chairman, Control Commission; L Thoiren, state secretary, L Joykumar Singh, assistant secretary and Y Ibomcha, former secretary Wangoi Local Council as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Langol Iboyaima said that MSC/CPI was established on August 23, 1948 under the leadership of renowned revolutionary social activist Hijam Irabot.
He recalled the instances leading to the formation of the party and the political state of affairs in Manipur back then.
The chairman also noted some of the movements the Party had been a part of such as Statehood movement, inclusion of Manipuri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, safeguarding the integrity of Manipur, expulsion of Assam Rifles from Kangla, repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act 1958 among others.
