Bishnupur, August 23 2022:
Wangoo and Napat Surrounding Club Organisation (WNSCO) organised a protest on Tues day demanding authorities concerned to provide urea to the farmers of Wangoo Sandangkhong.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest on Tuesday, WNSCO secretary Amom Binoy Singh stated that the issue of unavailability of urea in various parts of state is due to the Agriculture Department being run by people who have no interest to see prosperity of the state and its people.
He continued that the problems farmers are facing presently have been caused by people who only show affection for farmers only on paper.
Most of the state's farmers sustain themselves through production of food crops only.
Hence, it is the responsibility of the government to provide all the requirements of farmers in timely manner.
Binoy also mentioned that the WNSCO is a joint body of 30 clubs having 441 farmers as members with total agriculture land of 662.75 hectares and they require 1,995 urea bags for their crops.
To get the required urea bags they have pressed the agriculture minister, the director and the district agriculture officer and have submitted the required documents of 'Patta' and Aadhaar cards to circle extension officer, but till now they have not received the needed fertiliser, he claimed.
Lambasting the authorities for ignoring the demands of the farmers, Binoy said that if the farmers do not get urea on time, it is obvious that crop production will decrease.
Reduced crop production means rise in dispute between tenant farmers and landowners over crop share rent, he pointed out.
During the protest, the agitated farmers shouted slogans demanding availability of urea in time.
