Imphal, April 08 2022:
Designated Officer of Food Safety Administration, Imphal West, Tekcham Brojendra Khaba has cautioned of processing legal action against manufacturer of 'Sanaleibak Dew Drop' packaged drinking water for selling its product without obtaining license for manufacturing from authorities concerned.
Speaking to the media on Friday at Health Directorate, Lamphel, Brojendra informed that the Food Safety Administration had notified to M/S Vikram Sharma Enterprises for taking registration certificate from food safety Imphal West in 2021.The certificate certified for retail of food items found in the market only.
The dos and don'ts were vividly written while issuing the registration certificate, he maintained.
Brojendra said that the food safety received reports of manufacturing 20-litre capacity packaged drinking water by the said enterprise against the rules of registration certificate.
Subsequently, food safety officers found the packaged drinking water sold in the market.
The packaged drinking water is named as 'Sanaleibak Dew Drop' .
It is against the RR of registration certificate to manufacture packaged drinking water.
In the label of the drinking water, it was written as packaging drinking water instead of packaged drinking water thereby violating Food Safety Act and the related RR.
Informing that ISI mark is required prior to selling of packaged drinking water, Brojendro continued that the mark will be issued by BIS.
The ISI number can be used in the drinking water only when BIS approves it.
In the said packaged drinking water, there is no ISI mark and there was no official document.
This shows that the packaged drinking water violated Food Safety Act.
Moreover, the drinking water was not issued by PHED.
Instead, the water is being pumped up from underground from some inhabited area, he added.
Informing that many such products are being sold in the market, he urged the people to be cautious of such uncertified products to inform food safety officers or any related authorities.
The Designated Officer also cautioned of taking up stringent actions against those manufacturing and selling products without requisite license.
