Imphal, April 08 2022:
The CPI-Manipur State Council launched a month-long protest against the price hike of fuel and other essentials, today.
On the first day, the Left party staged a protest demonstration at Irawat Bhawan at BT Road and raised slogans to reduce the excise duty being levied on petrol and diesel, fix a minimum price of essential items and to include petroleum products in GST.
Speaking to media persons at BT Road, CPI-MSC secretary L Sotinkumar stated that the price of all essentials has been rising rapidly under the regime of the BJP Government with no thought for the wellbeing of the people.
Pointing out that the price of cooking gas, petrol, diesel, medicines, edibles and other essentials has been soaring sky high since the BJP formed the Government, Sotinkumar claimed that BJP led NDA Government is sucking the blood of the common people while befriending the big corporates.

Sotinkumar continued that the Centre has been formulating economic policies which only benefit the corporates at the cost of the people.
What is the point of giving free cylinders if the price of refilling it crosses the Rs 1000 mark, he asked and added that the price of petrol and diesel has also been rising gradually since the past few days.
Saying that price hike of goods directly or indirectly affects the people greatly, Sotinkumar appealed to all to stand firm against the BJP led Government which 'oppresses' the people.
He then demanded all concerned to reduce the excise duty being levied on petrol and diesel, fix a minimum price of essential items and to include petroleum products in GST.
