Under trial prisoner handed over to Imphal Police Station for assaulting advocate

Imphal, April 08 2022:
An under trial prisoner who is currently on bail in connection with the alleged murder case of his own mother was handed over to the Imphal police Station from Cheirap Court complex for using slang words inside the Court room during trial of other cases and assaulting one advocate today afternoon.
The incident happened today afternoon when the accused Nameirakpam Arun @ Danoi (42 yrs) s/o Holendro of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai came at Cheirap Court for his appearance in connection with the alleged murder case of his own mother.
When he reached the Court complex today, one of the lady security personnel deployed asked him to wear mask inside the Courtroom however instead of adhering to Covid protocols, he started shouting slang words at the security personnel and tried to assault her in the presence of Judge inside the Courtroom and went on to shout slangs outraging the modesty of women against the lady advocates and staff.
Thereafter the male advocates forced him to leave the Courtroom and was later handed over to the security personnel of the Court.
When one of the advocates tried to pacify him, he hurled stones at him injuring the advocate.
Later the accused was handed to the Imphal Police Station for further actions.
It may be mentioned that the accused was earlier arrested and was on judicial custody in connection with the alleged murder case of his own mother on November 11, 2016 evening at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai.
The chargesheet of the case against the accused was submitted on May 11, 2018 and the status of the case is in consideration of charges levelled in the charge sheet by the IO of the case.
