Special poster campaign on Lok Adalat launched

District Legal Services Authority, Ukhrul in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on Friday launched a "Special Poster Campaign on Lok Adalat" in connection with the upcoming National Lok Adalat at District and Sessions Court, Phungreitang, Ukhrul District.
The programme was led by Ojesh Mutum, member secretary MASLSA and i/c District and Sessions Judge, Ukhrul and PA Phungreishung, JMFC, Ukhrul in the presence of Additional Public Prosecutor, 2nd OC Ukhrul Police Station, Retainer Lawyer, DLSA Front office, PLVs, learned bar members, police personnel, litigants, etc, said a release issued by MASLSA.
Speaking on the occasion, Ojesh Mutum appealed to the public to take the opportunities provided by Lok Adalat as it is an effective means of Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR) to bring amicable resolution of disputes.
He stated that unlike the proceedings in civil Court, there is no Court fee payable when a matter is filed in a Lok Adalat and also it saves time in bringing an amicable solution for the parties involved.
He further sought cooperation from all the stakeholders to resolve their disputes amicably through Lok Adalat and other ADR processes.
The aim of the campaign was to make the public more aware of the availability of Lok Adalat as an effective means of ADR and of the availability of the free legal services in general; and to encourage the public to avail the opportunity of Lok Adalat.
As part of the event, posters were displayed at prominent places such as Court complex, Police Stations, District hospitals, Churches, market places and other strategic locations.
