Uripok grenade attack Two suspects held: Gaikhangam

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has said that police have arrested two persons, who were allegedly involved in the grenade blast inside Angels Digital Media Service injuring four persons last night.
Gaikhangam, who also holds Home portfolio, visited the injured persons at RIMS hospital today.
He was accompanied by DGP Shahid Ahmad, ADGP LM Khaute, other senior police officers, RIMS Director Ch Arunkumar and Medical Superintendent M Amuba.
Of the four injured persons, two are undergoing treatment at RIMS Surgical Ward and one each at Neurology and Orthopaedic Wards.
Gaikhangam assured that the Government would provide them all necessary assistance.
He also directed the doctors and medical staff of the hospital to take proper care of the inured persons.

Regarding the skulls and skeletons recovered from the campus of erstwhile Tombi-sana High School, Gaikha- ngam said that forensic experts are investigating the matter and it is too early to comment on it.
When one of the reporters told the Deputy Chief Minister that families of some missing persons have expressed suspicion that the skeletons might be the mortal remains of their missing kins and a memorandum has been submitted to the Chief Minister in this regard, he said that let the experts complete their investigations first and the fact would automatically come in the public domain.
Saying that the area has been sealed for proper investigation, Gaikhangam said that the State Government would take up necessary action if any foul play is detected.
Regarding the blast that was triggered inside Angels Digital Media Service, Gaikhangam said that two cadres of a KYKL faction have been arrested and investigations are going on.
Saying that creating panic to public is an act of cowardice, Gaikhangam asked all concerned to stop these violent activities.
According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept, Imphal West District Police commando unit conducted intensified frisking and checking at Sagolband Moirang Leirak crossing after the bomb blast at the Angel's Digital Media Service.
During the frisking and checking, one Loktongbam Bimol Meitei (40) S/o L Hemchandra Meitei of Moirang Hanuba Mamang Leirak was arrested and one hand grenade safety pin was seized from his possession.
Investigation revealed that he had hurled the hand grenade at Angel's Digital Media Service located at Uripok Haobam Dewan Leikai, under the instruction and command of his younger brother Tompok, who is an active member of the proscribed, KYKL, the police PRO said.
Investigation further revealed that the hand grenade was handed over to him by his younger brother namely, Loktongbam Dinachandra Meitei alias Ibomcha (35) S/o L Hemchandra Meitei and his father, namely, L Hemchandra Meitei (69) of Moirang Hanuba Mamang Leirak.
Subsequently, the police team raided the house of Bimol Meitei at Moirang Hanuba Mamang Leirak and arrested his younger brother (Dinachandra Meitei) and his father (Hemchandra Meitei), it said.
Investigation revealed that the hand grenade was hurled in connection with extortion demand served in the name of KYKL.
On further follow up action, another person, namely, Laihourungbam Sharatchandra alias Premananda alias Lemba (40) S/o Ibohal of Top Awang Leikai, who was involved in the bomb blast was arrested by a team of district police Imphal West from his residence today morning.
A case has been registered at Imphal Police Station and investigation is going on, it said.
