Imphal, December 27 2014 :
Although TB and Leprosy Hospital being constructed at Keirao Wang-khem, Imphal East district is yet to be fully complete as far as the construction work is con-cerned, TB hospital presently located at Chingmeirong has been put under immense pressure to move to the new building.
Some doctors posted at Chingmeirong TB Hospital told The Sangai Express that the Government has asked them to shift the hospital to its new building being constructed at Keirao Wang-khem.
Accordingly, some furniture items and X-Ray machine were taken to the new building a couple of days back.
Notably, the plot being occupied by the TB hospital has been already taken over by the Government for utilization in other purposes.
On the other hand, TB and Leprosy Hospital being constructed at Keirao Wangkhem which would have the capacity of 60 beds has no water supply connection nor power connection.

Construction of toilet blocks is yet to be completed and the whole compound requires extensive clean up.
As such, six patients who are currently undergoing treatment at Chingmeirong TB hospital as in-patients would stay there for some more time even though the process of shifting the hospital to Kei-rao Wangkhem is already underway.
Meanwhile, the contractor engaged in the construction work of TB and Leprosy Hospital at Keirao Wang-khem has been seeking some more time up to the month of January to fully complete the construction work.
Demolition work of buildings occupied by doctors, nurses and other staff at Chingmeirong has already begun.
As for the building being occupied by the six in-patients, it is being negotiated to demolish the same building when the patients have shifted to Keirao Wangkhem after January, said the doctors.
Estimated cost of TB and Leprosy Hospital being constructed at Keirao Wangkhem is Rs 8.37 crore.
This includes State share of Rs 3.37 crore while Rs 5 crore came from Special Plan Assistance.
Although the new building is not fully complete and no formal inauguration has been done, the process of shifting the hospital to the new building has started on account of certain compelling conditions.
Even though the hospital authority was asked to shift away the hospital to the new building, the department did not send any vehicle nor sanction any money to take away equipment and other goods to Keirao Wangkhem, said the doctors.
