AAMSU felicitates poet

Dr Naorem Bidyasagar Singh, who recently bagged the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award, was felicitated by the All Assam Manipuri Students' Union at a programme held at the office of the Committee on Cultural for Peace and Integrity (COCPIN), Tarapur, Silchar on Thursday.
Dr Naorem Bidyasagar won the award for his collection of poems titled 'Khung-gang Amsung Refugee'.
The poems reflect the problems of insurgency in Manipur, the socio-economic and contemporary problems being faced by the people of Northeastern States.
The felicitation programme was presided over by the president of AAMSU central committee, Seram Herajit Singh.
Okram Churamoni Singh, former principal of Gurucharan College attended the occasion as the chief guest.
O Nilkantha Singha, a Sahitya Akademi awardee and Keisam Babu Singh were also present as the special guests.
Members of the committee and dignitaries observed one minute silence as a mark of respect to those who lost their lives in the attacks allegedly carried out by the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) militants at Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam on Tuesday.
