DoNER Minister sets date for BoI

Imphal, June 18 2014:
Former Chief of Army Staff and DoNER Minister Gen VK Singh would visit Imphal on June 28 to attend the closing session of the Battle of Imphal (BoI) commemorative function.
An official source informed that Chief Minister O Ibobi today presided a high level meeting and discussed about the DoNER Minister's forthcoming visit to the State as well as the closing event of the commemorative function together with the organising committee.
The closing function of the three months long Battle of Imphal commemorative function would be held at MFDC Hall and DoNER Minister VK Singh would grace the function as chief guest.
Apart from the DoNER Minister, foreign diplomats attached to British, US and Japanese embassies would also attend the closing function.
Field Marshal Slim's grandson Hugo Slim would also be present at the function.
The spotlight would be on three World War II veterans from Churachandpur who took part in the famous Battle of Imphal on the side of the Indian Army.
All the war veterans are now over 90 years old.
They would be felicitated at the function.
The Battle of Imphal was voted the decisive battle of WWII.
On the other hand, Chief Minister convened another meeting this afternoon and reviewed the tourism projects being implemented in the State.
