Save Earth campaign launched

A 'SAVE EARTH' campaign was launched by 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) in Keithelmanbi garrison on June 18 .
Informing this in a statement, PRO IGAR (S) said that the campaign was organized in view of undeterred efforts to preserve the natural bounty of the earth by spreading awareness about the benefits of tree plantation at regular intervals.
A total of 100 fruit bearing and ornamental trees were planted during the drive.
Brigadier M K Das, SM**, VSM Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles officially inaugurated the campaign and flagged it off by planting the first saplings.
Speaking on the occasion, he reiterated the value of a clean and green environment and requested everyone to sincerely do their part in saving our mother earth.
The campaign will cover a planned plantation of trees periodically in the garrison and also villages in the vicinity.
In another endeavour, HQ 10 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a "Go Green" drive, towards a cleaner and greener Somsai on 18 Jun 2014 .
The drive included plantation of a variety of trees and plants to include Oak, Drumstick, Orange, Guava and Citrus sapplings in various parts of Somsai garrison.
The effort will continue for a week which will witness active participation from the Assam Rifles troops and also from the locals.
