Bank Manager rescued

After two days in captivity, State Bank of India (SBI) Branch Manager, Ampati Branch, Arvind Kumar was rescued by Meghalaya Police personnel at about 8 am Wednesday morning from Milliem village near Damalgre which is about 18 kms from Tura in Garo Hills, Meghalaya.
Three suspected militants had abducted Arvind Kumar from Garobadha bridge at gunpoint, while he was on his way to Ampati along with his driver who was later released on the same day.
After hearing about the abduction, a massive police operation was launched in the Garobadha � Rangsakona area in South West and West Garo Hills districts to find Kumar.
Carrying on with this manhunt, a five member police team had set off from Tura on Wednesday morning and had come across a group of armed miscreants who had Kumar in tow.
"There was heavy exchange of fire between police and the militants, following which the militants escaped, leaving behind Kumar," said West Garo hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Singh.
