Ukhrul to host 1st NE Autumn Festival

Northeast Autumn Festival 2022' will be held for the first time from October 20 to 26 in Jorcheng, a popular tourist attraction located near Lunghar village, about 21 km north of Ukhrul district headquarters.
"We are organising the first-ever Northeast Autumn festival beginning this year and will make it an annual event spreading across the entire North East states in the coming years," said Chiko Adventures president Wungma-so Rungsung, while officially announcing the upcoming festival, at a press conference held at 25 Degree North Restaurant here on Wednesday.
As part of the festival, a musical event titled Rhythm Night will be held and will feature many well-known artistes from all the NE states, ranging from rock, pop, folk music, to indigenous music instruments and EDM, he mentioned.
"There will also be indigenous tournaments which will include games like tug of war, wooden go-kart race, bamboo stilt race, along with display of art and crafts like the famous Longpi pottery making, bamboo basket making and weaving," he stated.
Rungsung further conveyed that Experiential tourism, a form of budget experience travel itineraries will also be made available to the guests during the festival.
Along with this, adventure activities like outdoor camping, zip lining, paragliding and activities such as zorbing, trampoline, spider net and Burma bridge will be installed at the campsite for families and kids as a daytime activity.
"During the festival, a wide range of multi-cuisine food stalls and cafes will be set up at the venue which will serve exotic foods from the NE region," he said.
Pointing out that October is a pleasant and festive season in the Northeast, he stated that this festival will enable anyone who wishes to travel and experience NE and Manipur in particular to take pleasure through this festival on a budget.
At the same time, Rungsung noted that while tourism development is fast gaining popularity in the region, it takes a whole lot of concerted efforts from all stakeholders that include the government, Tourism Department, hospitality industry and others.
He then appealed to the general public to show their support to the first of a kind festival to help it sustain and enhance tourism potentials in the region.
He also informed that arrangement has been made to accommodate 200 tourists/visitors and booking of tickets for the same has been opened and are available online at www.northeastautumnfestival.com.
