Imphal, February 10 2022:
BJP Manipur Pradesh chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy contended that NPP caused instability in the BJP led government during the current term while calling the party as a parasite.
Addressing a press meet at his Lamphelpat residence here on Thursday, Bijoy said that NPP is like a parasite and it tried to kill the host BJP by remaining as a part of the government.
BJP allotted ministerial portfolios to all four NPP MLAs and yet, the party created instability with the hope of forming a new government to hold the post of chief minister.
The in-fighting that occurred within BJP was also engineered by NPP, he claimed and also asked who deducted 3 per cent from the state budget and which party benefited from the deduction.
Bijoy then advised the NPP members to remain in a local party if they are against national party.
However, letting the CM of Meghalaya to interfere in the state's affairs and governance is unacceptable.
It is obvious that NPP will divert any major policy of the northeast to Meghalaya if the party is in power in Manipur and people of the state will lose opportunities.
While observing that people of Manipur are divided into pro and anti BJP, he said those who are against BJP should not support NPP in the ensuing election since bringing an NPP led government will definitely lead to tussle over power with one under the chief minister of Manipur and the other headed by Conrad Sangma.
Such an unprecedented situation would prove disastrous for the state, he said.
Regarding the Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA) formed by Congress and left parties, Bijoy said that one can call the alliance as Congress party as the remaining parties do not have much significance in the alliance.
Defeating BJP and CM N Biren being the main agenda of the alliance itself shows negative vibe of the alliance.
The alliance has nothing to offer to the state and its people other than their attempt to defeat BJP.
The Congress party remained in slumber for the last five years and woke up only at the time of election, he said, while stating that establishment of Churachandpur medical college and installation of Lokayukta among others as some of the significant achievements of the BJP government.
Bijoy also termed the manifesto of Congress party as a half-cooked manifesto and said that the promise of creating 50,000 jobs every year is not a promise to resolve unemployment issue but it will only increase the problem as number of job seekers will increase every year.
As for the assurance of setting up Manipur Regiment, BJP made the same assurance in 1995 and pursued for the same with the Central government.
However, the then Congress government rejected the proposal stating that setting up the regiment would be anti-India policy and now.
Congress is bringing up the same matter.
He also refuted the allegation of BJP being a suppressive party made by MLA K Ranjit and said that the allegation is baseless.
