JD-U promises job quota for women, repeal of AFSPA

Janata Dai-United (JD-U) has released its election manifesto for the ensuing state assembly election with promise for 35 per cent reservation for women in government job recruitments among other pledges.
The manifesto was released at the party's Keishamthong Hodam Leirak office here on Thursday.
Interacting with the media on the occasion, JD-U state president Hangkhanpau said that the party will put its best efforts to translate all the promises made in the manifesto into action if the party comes to power and will form post poll alliance with like-minded parties to ensure these promises ate fulfilled.
He further informed that the party is contesting the election from 39 seats.
Other important points mentioned in the manifesto include repeal of AFSPA; early solution to peace talks while protecting unity, territorial integrity and constitutional safeguard of the state; special policy to address unemployment issue; solution to low capital formation, infrastructural facilities & low industrialisation; improvement in MSME, tourism, IT, health, manufacturing, agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, veterinary & animal husbandry, skill development; rooting out drug, narco-trade, corruption; bringing transparency; 50 per cent reservation for women in local body elections; 30 per cent seat reservation for women in professional courses like medical and engineering; conducting ADC election within six months; household tap water connection; improving power situation among others.
