Many extend Cheiraoba, Ramdan greetings

Governor La Ganesan and chief minister N Biren have extended their best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Sajibu Nongmapanba Cheiraoba, a Manipuri New Year's Day celebration, which falls on Saturday.
While stating that New Year is an occasion for all to rejoice, the Governor said: "I am hopeful that the advent of the New Year will further cement the bond of friendship among the different communities in the state and urges all to rededicate themselves once again to the promotion of peace and harmony in the state for making a better Manipur".
In his message, chief minister Biren said Sajibu Cheiraoba marks the beginning of a new lunar year for the Meitei community.
He noted that Cheiraoba also bring people closer through sharing and gifting.
While wishing everyone a happy and a prosperous year, CM also prayed that the New Year brings abundance of joy and good health to one and all.
Several individuals, civil organisations and political parties also extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba, 2022.In separate releases, MA-HUD, RD&PR and Education minister Y Khemchand Singh and Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro Singh greeted the people of the state and wished for peace and prosperity in every household of Manipur and Manipuris settling outside the state.
Similarly, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) and Communist Party of India Manipur State Council also extended Shajibu Cheiraoba greetings to the people and wished for peace and social harmony among different communities residing in the state.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee also extended greetings on the occasion of Shajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba and Ramzan/Rama-dan which is the holy month of the Muslim community and wished for peace, happiness and prosperity to the people of all communities of Manipur.
Chief minister Biren also conveyed his best wishes to the people especially the Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of Ramzan or Ramadan holy month, which begins Saturday.
In his message, CM Biren said Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is one of the most important observances for the Muslim community.
During the holy month, Muslims purify their minds, bodies, hearts and souls by fasting and praying to Allah.
The act of fasting during this month is considered as one of the five pillars of Islam.
"It is a practice of perseverance and self-restraint which gives strength to both body and mind, he added.
