1st MNCA Super Plate Tourney : M Bijoykumar, K Kennedy bowl MPSC to fourth group stage win

Even as batters failed to make mark, MPSC bowlers dished out an impeccable bowling effort to secure a 13 run victory against TCMDC, Thongju in a Group B league match of the 1st MNCA Super Plate Tourna-ment here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
The win, fourth in five matches, enabled MPSC to go second in the Group B standings after RULE who have won 6 of 6 league matches so far.
MPSC won the toss and opted to bat first, but Gelson Thoudam edged Suraj Kharibam to Thongju keeper Sarangthem Priyobarta to depart on duck after 5 balls of the opening over.

Even as Shagolshem Sunil of MPSC tried to put things in order, he lost his partner P Bonem to Suraj yet again on 2 before he himself departed on 35 for the third wicket in the fourth delivery of the 8th over to L Vivekananda when the scorecard read 39 .
TCMDC's right arm fast bowlers Rain Urikhinbam then ran through the middle order to return with the best bowling figure of 4/29 in 6 overs to make the situation worse for MPSC.
Maibam Bijoykumar however put up a brave fight lately to add an unbeaten 19 as the team bundled out for 106 within 29 overs.
Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma (1/4 in 3 overs) and Thongam Nganthoi Singh (1/5 in 2 overs) of TCMDC too played their parts well by taking a wicket each and maintaining an exceptionally good economy.
Rain's four wicket haul however went in vain as TCMDC batting department faltered unexpectedly and slumped to 93 all out in 32.3 overs as fast bowling trio of Maibam Bijoykumar (3/25 in 3.3 overs), Keisham Kennedy (3/25 in 8 overs) and Saranthem Shangker (2/9 in 8 overs) wreaked havoc.
Only Saranthem Priyobarta (24) and Suraj Kharibam (29) made significant contributions to TCMDC's tally while the other batters had to depart cheaply either on ducks or with single digit runs.
Eventually, Bijoykumar who clinched three wickets and added 19 runs was adjudged man of the match.
Meanwhile at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College playground, YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel came up with their 4th win in 6 matches thrashing SDC, Laipham Khunou by 88 runs.
After opting to bat first, YUCC were restricted to a below par 168 in the allotted 40 overs as Thangboy Doungel of SDC spun web around the YUCC batting line up on the way to his 4/27 in 8 overs which contained a maiden.
Ningthoujam Thoiba Singh (28 of 16 balls) managed the highest run for YUCC smashing 5 fours while Ningthoujam Rojit Singh added 27 off 67 balls.
Ninthoujam Sanjit (17), W Lenin (11) and Ningthoujam Amarjit (18) also contributed in YUCC innings which also saw Paonam Satyajit of SDC scalped twice for 33 runs in 8 overs.
Bollanath and Konjengbam Monish also managed a wicket each before they were bowled out for 80 runs within 23.5 overs in the chase.
Ningthoujam Sanjit emerged wrecker-in-chief for the Kwakeithel side as he fetched the top four batters with ease to reduce SDC to 20-4 in 6.1 overs.
Ningthoujam Amarjit (3/4 in 3.5 overs) and Kadamjit Moirangthem (2/27) then swept the middle order and tailenders to inspire YUCC fourth win in 6 matches.
Sanjit of YUCC who produced an all round performance was adjudged man of the match.
With the result, YUCC are third in Group B standings and will look to extend their winning run in the last match to remain in contention for the last four stage.
Elsewhere at Langthabal Public Ground, PCC, Mayai Koibi notched up a 67 run victory against Muvanlai for the 3rd win in five matches.
Opting to bat first, PCC stacked up 194 for 9 courtesy sensible batting performances from Charoibam Tyson (41), Huidrom Dhanashyam (25), Mathurabashimayum Jobanta (24) and Vikash (20) and restricted Muvanlai to 127/10 within 29.3 overs for the big win as M Jobanta enjoyed a 4 wicket haul for 11 runs in 6.3 overs.
PCC innings saw Sanjay Kaphle (2/19), Soorat Kaphle (2/23), L Thangsuanlian (2/23) and Haolengou Kipgen (2/20) of Muvanlai sharing two wickets each.
In reply, Haolengou Kipgen struck 34 off 36 balls to top the chart for Muvanlai followed by Md Aslam (18 not out) and Shibadatta (15) as other fell cheaply to M Jobanta and Thokchom Santosh Singh (3/13 in 8 overs).
Vikash (1/8) and Longjam Gibson (1/7) also bowled well to help PCC post a comfortable win.
M Jobanta who gave in an all round feat was eventually named man of the match.
