Governor leads in extending Cheiraoba greetings

Imphal, April 01 2022:
Governor La Ganesan has led in extending greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of 'Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba' - Manipuri New Year's Day, which falls on April 2 .
Stating that the New Year is an occasion for people to rejoice, the Governor expressed hope that the advent of the New Year will further cement the bonds of friendship among different communities in the State.
He urged everyone to dedicate themselves once again to the promotion of peace and harmony for the creation of a better Manipur.
Chief Minister N Biren also conveyed his warm wishes saying that the occasion marks the beginning of a new lunar year for the Meitei community.
'It brings people closer together through sharing and gifting', he stated.
He also prayed for the new year to bring an abundance of joy and good health to everyone.
Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly, Thokchom Satyabrata Singh shared that Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba began during the reign of King Maliya Fambalcha (1359-1329 BC) when he ascended the throne at the age of 25.The Speaker wished all the people from different communities to live in peace, harmony and prosperity.
Th Biswajit Singh, Minister, Power Department also joined in extending his warm wishes to the people of Manipur, adding that Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba is celebrated by every household with great enthusiasm.
Conveying his greetings for peace, prosperity and development in every household of Manipur and other Manipuris residing outside the state, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Minister, MAHUD, also prayed for the good health of everyone.
