Eight riders of Umling La tour felicitated

Eight riders, who are first from the state to reach the highest motorable road of the world, Umling La in Eastern Ladakh, were felicitated by Sanamahi Motors at CYLC basketball court, Pishum Chingamathak on Saturday.
Sanamahi Motors proprietor W Khoma and his team presented the eight riders with stoles and mementos while commending their resilience in completing the tour.
Members of Royal Riders Manipur, Royal Enfield 650 Club and Sekmai Riders were also present at the felicitation function for the team, who arrived in Imphal on Saturday.
While welcoming them, Khoma said that it is indeed a happy moment for the state to have the eight native riders arriving safely after reaching the world highest motorable road in Umling La Pass, which is located at an elevation of 19,300 feet from the mean sea level in Eastern Ladakh.
The eight riders began their tour from September 8 and covered 9096 kilometre to reach Umling La Pass.
It is the first in the history of state riders to reach the pass, he said.
Renowned singer Raju Nong, who was part of the eight-member team, said that they felt happy to have such warm reception upon their return.
The journey, which took over a month, was a mixed experience of happiness, joy, hardship and emotional.
They are also happy that they have become not only the first team from Manipur to reach Umling La Pass but also probably the first from the northeast region, he said.
