Imphal, May 15 2015 :
Two persons - one non-local and one local man - who were capturing photos and video footages of the bandh scene by posing themselves as media persons at Patsoi Part-III area, where curfew was in force, were detained by police today afternoon.
Suspicious over the conduct of the duo, a senior police officer enquired the non-local man about the media house which they belong to.
The non-local man responded to the police officer that he does not belong to any media house but he was simply accompanying the local guy, who is a journalist.
As suspicions grew stronger in the mind of the police officer with the response of the non-local man, he called up the local man, who was taking video footages of agitating womenfolk at some distance, and enquired about his media house.
The local man told the police officer that neither he belongs to any media house nor he possesses press identity card as he is a freelance filmmaker.
Media persons covering the agitation informed about the incident to All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU).
AMWJU president W Shamjai, who arrived there with some of his office executives after some time, advised the duo not to do anything which may create misunderstanding about media persons in the mind of general public.
Later, the duo were released by the police.
