Imphal, May 15 2015 :
Non-PG in-service doctors (Senior Resident/Tutor/Demonstrator) of JNIMS are set to carry out a mass casual leave stir for three days from May 18 in protest against Directorate of Health Services' notice issued under notification number 104/PG/2015-DHS dated 8th May 2015 .
The matter of doctors' stir was mentioned in a memorandum submitted to JNIMS Director.
The memorandum said that the junior doctors have been demanding reservation of PG seats in JNIMS exclusively for non-PG in-service doctors of JNIMS till the completion of their respective Post Graduation in their respective departments.
This practice of reservation of seats for in-house candidates is common in almost all the medical institutions of India.
The memorandum further said that such reservation would strengthen the overall development of JNIMS at par with the rest of the premier institutions of India.
It further said that running a highly esteemed institute by junior doctors without enough competency and proper degree would only result to degradation of the institute.
The junior doctors have been toiling heart and soul since the inception of JNIMS to reach the present day status, the memorandum said and added that these doctors have been deprived of appearing in PG entrance examination in RIMS as well as sponsorship under Manipur Health Services for the past six years.
The notification issued by Health Services Director calling for counselling under the category of sponsorship and open category is highly discriminatory to non-PG in-service doctors of JNIMS.
