Tree saplings planted in IW, Noney, Ukhrul districts

Keithelmanbi and Moreh battalions of IGAR (South) conducted tree plantation drives at Sarita Devi Boxing Academy Mayang Imphal and Moreh on Saturday towards promoting the 'Go Green Initiative'.
The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to control the global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on importance of clean environment, informed a PRO IGAR(S) release.
As part of initiative, saplings of various varieties were planted by students of the Boxing Academy and villagers of Moreh at Mayang Imphal and Moreh respectively, the release added.
Bharat Swabhiman (Trust) and Patanjali Yog Samiti, Imphal West district also organised a tree sapling plantation programme at Hiyangthang Heibok Mahadev as part of the 72nd Van Ma-hotsav programme on Sunday.
In a release, Bharat Swabhiman Zilla prabhari M Charan Singh informed that the trust and Patanjali Yog Samiti have been cond ucting tree sapling plantations continuously since 2015.The plantation drive will continue till August 4, it stated.
About 100 saplings of fruit-bearing trees, medicinal plants and herbs were planted inside the campus of Hiyangthang Heibok Mahadev by the participants of the programme, the release added.
NONEY: Around 400 Gulmohar and other scenery plants were planted in every village in Tamei area during a tree plantation programme organised under the auspices of social worker Appolos T Panmei, who also holds the post of general secretary, BJP Tamei Mandal.
Appolos extended heartfelt gratitude to all the village authorities and villagers for their warm reception to his team and their cooperation in making the programme a successful one.
Panmei said that his main objective is to promote economic growth and bring about certain changes in the area by way of giving awareness to the people about the various government schemes for their benefits.
UKHRUL: Pledge to plant 1,20,000 saplings marked the celebration of 72nd Van Mahotsav 2021 in Kamjong.
The event was jointly organised by Kamjong Forest Division, District Administration Kamjong, 42 Assam Rifles, Kamjong Students Union on July 3 at the public ground in Kamjong town.
Around 2000 tree saplings were distributed and planted during the festival of forest.
Kamjong DFO SW Suisa spoke on the importance of tree plantation.
He said that mass tree plantation drive of Van Mahotsav under Kamjong Forest Division would continue at Phungyar, Chungka village on Monday, Khamlang on July 6 and Somrei on July 7 targeting 1,20,000 numbers of saplings across the district.
Col Vikas Dubey highlighted the effect of deforestation on climate change.
DC Kamjong Worshang Hungyo, Kamjong DFO staffers including Range Forest Officer (RFO) Kamjong, Phungyar & Kasom, Kamjong Students' Union representatives attended the event.
