FEGOCTA suspends stir, resumes online classes

A day after suspending their three-day long agitation launched to demand implementation of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations 2018, Federation of Government College Teachers Association (FEGOCTA) is all set to resume conduct of online classes.
A release by media and publicity cell convenor informed that the agitation was called off on Saturday evening after an emergency executive meeting conducted virtually.
The meeting also discussed in detail the government order issued on Saturday with regard to 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018.The agitation of boycotting online classes and examination started on July 1 by FEGOCTA demanding that the March 6, 2021 MOU signed between Higher Education department and the FEGOCTA should be translated into action.
The agitation was taken up by all teachers in government colleges of the state including those in the Dhanamanjuri University, it said and further appealed for immediate pension Orders for the retired college teachers.
FEGOCTA is the first and only teachers' body in Manipur that demanded and launched six agitations for the adoption of the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 .
The teachers' body in the release also expressed gratitude to chief minister N Biren and other cabinet ministers including deputy chief minister Y Joykumar for the historic cabinet decision on 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018.It also praised the Education minister, commissioner and officials of the department and also the former Education minister Th Radheshyam for supporting the national policy of UGC in Manipur.
