Imphal, July 04 2021:
Reacting to the repeated claims of ex-MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C S Subashchandra that his dismissal from being an MLA before completing his term was a political accident, former MLA and BJP Manipur Pradesh executive member RK Anand has categorically stated that the dismissal of Subashchandra, who was elected as an MLA in the 11th state assembly election, was because of his faults and he should stop terming such dismissal as political accident.
Anand was speaking while attending a social service and tree plantation programme organised by Awang Konjeng Youth Organisation around the premises of the organisation on Sunday.
Anand informed that the tree plantation programme was organised as a part of Balidan Diwas and birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee which is being celebrated across the nation from June 26 till July 6.Stating that Waisel Maril which passes through several constituencies is an important stream, Anand stated that he cleaned the stream when he was an MLA for10 years and has been doing the same when he is not an MLA of the constituency every year.
He along with the CM inspected the stream and discussed taking up of a project to maintain the stream, Anand informed, while adding that he urged the chief minister to take up a Rs 500 crore project for development of Waisel Marin and the CM has given the green signal, he continued.
Enquiring why Subashchandra is angry when he (Rk Anand) urged the CM to take up the project for development of the stream which was not taken up during the Congress rule, Anand pointed out that cleaning of the stream has already begun in the constituencies which have MLA.
But the stream is yet to be cleaned in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa constituency as it does not have an MLA, he contended, while questioning whether cleaning of the stream for a day using JCB at Ningombam could be claimed as cleaning Waisel Maril.
Maintaining that he did not enter politics thinking only of the constituency, Anand recalled that he took part in various issues and movements of the state including territorial integrity, ILP and NSCN-IM peace talk.
So, one needs to think before speaking, he suggested.
Anand asserted that his constituency was in a terrible condition when he became the MLA for the first time.
Around 80 per cent of the roads in the constituency were black topped during his tenure.
Moreover, Rs 9 crore was added to work programme under central road fund.
The said fund was then provided during the tenure of ex-MLA S Subhaschandra, he continued, while adding that he has been urging the chief minister and the works minister to black top the roads in the constituency.
