Imphal, July 04 2021:
Shiv Sena, Manipur is all set to fight the forthcoming state assembly election, which is expected to be held early next year.
Informing this to the media on the sidelines of a felicitation function hosted in honour of Maharabam Anita of Awang Sekmai Khunou Leikai, who is also president of Awang Khunou Women and Child Development Society at the party office, Babupara, here on Sunday, party's state president M Tombi said that his party will fight the election by fielding maximum number of candidates.
The party will to give special focus on women candidates in the forthcoming election considering the lack of women representation in the 60-seat assembly.
The same has been conveyed to the party's central leaders, he added.
Tombi expressed concern over the deprivation of right of the people in eight assembly constituencies of Kakching and Thoubal districts, who could only vote in Lok Sabha election but could not contest the election and other issues that the state is facing and said that all these issues need to be addressed.
He also spoke about the issues hindering proper implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system though it has been implemented in the state.
He then appealed to the people of the state to stop electing wealthy individuals, who see politics as mere business.
Selling their voting rights for a mere sum of money will not bring anything good in the society and the state will continue to face more and more issues if the trend continues, he said.
Maintaining that the government is putting its best efforts in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Tombi urged all political parties not to take political mileage of the situation.
He also appealed to all individuals to stop spreading rumours that could affect the vaccination drive while urging all eligible people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
