Sit-in protest continues

Imphal, January 25 2021:
Expressing the need to approach a higher Court following the recent acquittal of former ADC Chairman, Lhukhosei Zou who was arrested on the charge of drug smuggling, the Panthoibi Women Welfare Association, Uchekon Khunou and Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CAD A) Unit jointly organised a sit in protest at Uchekon Khunou Community Hall in Imphal East district, yesterday.
Addressing the gathering, Ningthoujam Doren, vice president of CADA alleged that it is high time that all stand together in the fight against drugs and against those behind the drug peddlers, he added.
Ningthoujam Doren further appealed to the State Government to take the case to a higher Court and award befitting punishments to those involved in the drug case.
Moirangthem Sobita, secretary Panthoibi Women Welfare Association, Uchekon mentioned that the people of the State urged the State Government to formulate more appropriate legislation to fight the drug menace in the State.
Slogans including 'do not demean war on drugs', 'award befitting punishments to drug smugglers' etc were raised at the end of the protest.
