National Voters' Day observed at Senapati, Chandel

The 11th National Voters' Day was observed today at DC Conference Hall, Senapati district under the theme "Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed".
The celebration was organised by the office of the District Election Officer, Senapati.
Addressing the programme, Th Kirankumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati stated that the Election Commission was formed on this day in 1950 .
Speaking on the theme, he said that the word 'Safe' has been added to make the voters aware by taking self precaution during COVID-19 pandemic.
Election is the fabric of democracy and the voters should be well informed so that neither fear nor trouble arises during the election, he added.
Th Kirankumar appealed to the voters present in the programme to be aware and try their best in selecting the candidate of their choice in the coming ADC elections.
He also led the National Voters' Day pledge of upholding the democratic traditions of the country and the dignity of 'Free, Fair and Peaceful Elections', to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community or language.
As a part of the programme, awards were handed over to the best BLOs namely Ng Maitasang, 47/64 Tingsong Khunou of Karong (ST) AC, Siipulo Zho, 48/63 Chingmai Khunou (A) of Mao (ST) AC, A Adaphro, 49/61 Rikhumai Taphou of Tadubi (ST) AC.
About 20 EPIC Cards were also distributed to the newly enrolled electors and also to the differently abled persons.
The programme was attended by DLOs, Civil Society groups, youth volunteers, young eligible citizens, students etc.
CHANDEL
The 11th National voters' day was also celebrated today at Chandel district with the theme "Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed" .
The celebration was organised by the District Election Officer, Chandel and attended by all the district level officers.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel Mayanglambam Rajkumar said that voting is an important democratic exercise and is the very backbone of democracy, and it will be more meaningful if the voters are more informed and vigilant.
Getting voting rights is an event in one's life, and all the voters should exercise their rights with the right frame of mind without the influence of any unwanted factors affecting their decisions, he added.
Mayanglambam Rajkumar further mentioned that the National Voters' Day is being celebrated by giving more emphasis to the youths, and the first time voters so that they are empowered, vigilant and well informed.
While felicitating the newly registered voters of the district, he asked them to exercise their voting rights with utmost diligence.
Later, Epic Cards were also distributed to the newly registered voters of the district.
